FRED FOSTER |
I WAS BORN IN A SMALL TOWN WEST OF Corpus Christi called
Freer in 1950. In High School I took industrial arts for four years. I
developed a love of working with wood then. After high school I took Machine
Shop at Del Mar Tech.
I married Janet Pullin of Three Rivers, Texas, in 1975. We have a son, Wesley,
who lives in Dallas and a daughter, Leann, who lives in orange Grove. We have
one granddaughter, Chloe, who lives in Dallas.
I have worked as a Machinist in job shops and production shops. I went to work
at Corn Products as an inside/outside Machinist, or Millwright Machinist. For
the last 29 years I have worked for Sherwin Alumina as Maintenance Mechanic.
Since 1994, I have attended several schools and trained in Vibration Analysis,
the study of Vibration on Rotating Equipment. I have a Vibration Analysis Level
One Certification.
Over the years I have retained the love of working with wood and woodturning.
All of my woodturning, until I joined the WoodTurners, was done on a metal
lathe. I just thought I knew how to turn wood. Turning wood on a wood lathe is
an art of its own. The club has taught me a great deal about turning wood,
finishing and sanding. The list just goes on and on.
I served as Vice-President of the Coastal Bend WoodTurners for about six
months. Health reasons required Roland Blair to request retiring as the club’s
President. I completed his term as President. Upon completion of that term, I
was asked to stay on for another term. It has been an honor and privilege to
serve this club. I hope to serve again someday. We have a great group of
members. I have gained not only knowledge, but many friends being a part of
this club. |
